Vans was originally founded in 1966 in Southern California by brothers Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren. The original name founded under was “The Van Doren Rubber Company” and later switched to Vans. The brand was inspired by West Coast culture and the skateboarding lifestyle. Pictured is the Vans Era "Desert Embellish" in Safari Brown.
